Proverbs 8:1-3 (ESV)
1 Does not wisdom call?
Does not understanding raise her voice?
2 On the heights beside the way,
at the crossroads she takes her stand;
3 beside the gates in front of the town,
at the entrance of the portals she cries aloud:
Wisdom calls to all who will listen, pleading with her audience to apply insight. She speaks on the heights, where everyone can see and hear, and by the way, where people choose which course they will take. She begs her audience at the crossroads to reject folly. She goes to the places where town matters are discussed and decisions are made.And she calls out for any who will listen to her voice before they embark along the way they’ve chosen. If we reject wisdom and make sinful choices in life, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Wisdom does not hide herself, even from the simple. Have you tuned out wisdom’s plea or grown numb to her appeal? Is there an area where you know you aren’t doing as you should, yet you rationalize and make excuses for your behavior? Listen to wisdom today, sparing yourself a life of regret.
