Proverbs 22:6-8 (ESV)

Train up a child in the way he should go;

even when he is old he will not depart from it.

The rich rules over the poor,

and the borrower is the slave of the lender.

Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity,

and the rod of his fury will fail.

It is critical that one stay on the right road, and so the Proverbs exhort parents to instruct their children to follow the way of wisdom from the beginning of life. The rich person has plenty and enjoys stress-free circumstances, while those who are poor end up trapped in financial slavery, paying interest they can’t afford. The Lord, who sees all, will judge those who selfishly abuse their power and wealth. When people walk along a specific path, the ground beneath them becomes hard, and over time a trench forms. As the path gets more and more use, the trench becomes deeper and deeper and less easy to deviate from. It is the same with moral training. Do everything you can to work godly habits into your kids at a young age.The courses paved in childhood have a lasting impact on adult life, even into old age.
