Proverbs 8:6-7 (ESV)
6 Hear, for I will speak noble things,
and from my lips will come what is right,
7 for my mouth will utter truth;
wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
The audience is to listen to the words of wisdom, which are correct and fair, as opposed to the speech of those who seek to lure the hearer into darkness. Suppose you could question someone about moral issues, ethical concerns, and things pertaining to truth, and know that every response to your inquiries is absolutely right and flawless. What would you ask such a person? What questions do you need answered? And what if the Scripture, the word of God, contains everything you need to know for life and godliness? Would you heed the Bible and obey what it teaches? In the end, who or what we believe to be the source of absolute truth drives what we think and do. Do you trust yourself, someone else, or God’s word? Whom you listen to determines where you will go and eventually end up.
