Proverbs 20:7-8 (ESV)
7 The righteous who walks in his integrity—
blessed are his children after him!
8 A king who sits on the throne of judgment
winnows all evil with his eyes.
Despite the darkness in our world, God has chosen some to walk uprightly before him by trusting in his word and choosing to submit themselves to his laws and principles. These people invest into others and look out for the good of the community. The descendants of the righteous are set apart from those without believing parents; the children of the upright reap the rich benefits of being raised in a God-fearing home. The wise ruler is able to distinguish the wicked from the righteous. He evaluates behavior and even sees through to the motives of those in his kingdom. In justice, he removes the evil from his realm. In the end, God alone is able to winnow, or examine, all of humanity. On the last day, we will be found either in Christ or outside of Christ. And in the end, that’s all that matters. Which group would you be found in if Christ conducted his final examination of your heart today?
