Proverbs 8:27-28 (ESV)
27 When he established the heavens, I was there;
when he drew a circle on the face of the deep,
28 when he made firm the skies above,
when he established the fountains of the deep,
Wisdom continues to list the wonders she witnessed before the world began. She was present when God created the universe. As God separated the water in the oceans from the water in the air, she watched. When God established the water supply under the earth, Wisdom was there. As we contemplate Wisdom’s presence alongside God from the beginning, we must admit we would be fools to reject her offer of guidance. We think and speak from limited knowledge and understanding, but Wisdom teaches first-hand, since she was present in the front row while God brought all into existence. How simplistic we are to challenge the advice Wisdom offers, somehow thinking we know better! How vain we are to try to navigate life without the wisdom of God! May the Lord move us to quiet our hearts before him today and make us ready to hear and apply his word.
