Proverbs 19:3-4 (ESV)
3 When a man’s folly brings his way to ruin,
his heart rages against the Lord.
4 Wealth brings many new friends,
but a poor man is deserted by his friend.
The fool makes poor decisions with time, resources, friendships, and hobbies, seeking self- satisfaction rather than humbly and respectfully living according to the wisdom of the Lord. When his plans fail him and he doesn’t prosper in self- indulgent folly, his stupidity escalates even further, and he blames God for not honoring his careless lifestyle. He doesn’t submit himself to the Lord and his law, yet he becomes angry with God for not giving him what he wants. People often gravitate toward the woman with money, hoping to gain financially from the friendship. But those same people want nothing to do with her once she loses her wealth. Those who possess money can be loved as much as money itself. Have you made foolish decisions in life for which you are now suffering the consequences? If so, see your lack of prosperity as a demonstration of God’s kindness toward you, that you might repent and realign your life before it’s too late.
