Proverbs 31:26-28 (ESV)

26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,

and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

27 She looks well to the ways of her household

and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;

her husband also, and he praises her:

Again, to “open one’s mouth” was a phrase the Hebrews used to explain the ability to speak thoroughly and effectively to the concerns of those who come to the godly woman for counsel. Her wisdom results from a lifetime of putting the truth of God’s word into practice. The woman who has immersed herself in God’s grace is quick to extend grace to others.“Looking well to” means that something is being watched over carefully. This woman carefully watches over the affairs of her home, ready to adjust whenever change is necessary. She invests into the physical, emotional, and spiritual growth of her children, and she is a trusted companion for her husband. The family applauds the mother and wife as one to look up to. Do you desire to have others look up to you as a good and godly model? By confidently trusting in God, working hard, and investing in others, you will be admired and commended too.
