Proverbs 21:21-23 (ESV)

21 Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness

will find life, righteousness, and honor.

22 A wise man scales the city of the mighty

and brings down the stronghold in which they trust.

23 Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue

keeps himself out of trouble.

The Lord grants those who seek after righteousness and kindness the blessings of a godly life. The wise person overpowers the wicked. Although evil women may feel safe and even protected by a strong city wall, the wicked are conquered by the wise woman’s virtuous behavior. Those who have God on their side may suffer temporarily, but will eventually prevail over all their enemies. One way the righteous woman avoids the traps of the wicked is by guarding what comes out of her own mouth. The woman who cautiously considers what she says, not driven by impulsive rage, but instead thoughtful, will protect herself from trouble. Although some may insist on letting everyone know what’s on their minds when angry, doing so is never wise. Think before you speak. Many have destroyed opportunities for future prosperity by blurting out careless words.
