Proverbs 21:9-10 (ESV)

It is better to live in a corner of the housetop

than in a house shared with a quarrelsome wife.

10 The soul of the wicked desires evil;

his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.

Living with a roof over our heads should be a reason for rejoicing, but not so for the man with a quarrelsome wife. He would be better off sleeping alone on his rooftop, exposed to heat, wind, and rain, than stuck inside with a nagging woman. The aggressive woman thinks continually about herself. She is not content until she gets her way. Even when she keeps her mouth shut, she invents clever methods to manipulate those around her. The core of the wicked person’s being corrupts her desires, causing her to seek out evil.According to this woman, no one is worthy of mercy. She refuses kindness to her neighbor and brings harm to those near her. Both the quarrelsome wife and the evil neighbor are passionate about themselves. What about you? Are you a nag? Do you push and push until you get your way? Or is your soul quiet within you, resting in the protection and provision of the Lord?
