Proverbs 24:15-16 (ESV)
15 Lie not in wait as a wicked man against the dwelling of the righteous;
do no violence to his home;
16 for the righteous falls seven times and rises again,
but the wicked stumble in times of calamity.
Though the wicked person may attempt to plunder the righteous, and even succeed temporarily, in the end God will enable the righteous to recover from the plots of the ungodly. In fact, Saying 27 reveals that God will orchestrate circumstances so that the wicked will suffer the destruction they intended for others. Ultimately, the day will transpire when we depart this life through death and face the judgment of God.The unjust will account for everything they did along with every motive behind their behavior. When their actions and attitudes are compared against God’s decrees, they will be found guilty. And they will be sentenced accordingly. But the wise, who acknowledge God’s authority over all of creation, humbly confess their wrongdoing and turn from their sin, placing their total trust in the person and work of Jesus, will stand in the day of judgment. The righteous truly will rise again.
