Proverbs 27:15-16 (ESV)
15 A continual dripping on a rainy day
and a quarrelsome wife are alike;
16 to restrain her is to restrain the wind
or to grasp oil in one’s right hand.
A nonstop leak in rainy weather and a wife who pushes for her own way are both unbearable. A man comes home hoping to find rest from the troubles of the day, but instead he is met with a defective roof and a dissatisfied wife. Both are depressing and not what he envisioned.The home should be a place of peace, but instead of retreat from the storm, the wicked wife brings thunder right into their living space. This woman should have been a source of joy to her husband, but he is left broken as he observes his circumstances in contrast to the way he imagined things to be. The quarrelsome wife thought her life would get better with marriage, but just as she was unsatisfied in her single days, she is equally unsatisfied as a wife. The woman who is disgruntled with the Lord will never be pleased in any circumstance.
