Proverbs 3:13-14 (ESV)

13 Blessed is the one who finds wisdom,

and the one who gets understanding,

14 for the gain from her is better than gain from silver

and her profit better than gold.

The Hebrew word used for “blessed” here describes an experience of life to the fullest. God prospers those who are blessed by gracing them with well-being. The one who searches for wisdom and finds her, or the one who listens to and accepts understanding, is the one whom the Lord deems as blessed. Wisdom acquired and lived out is superior to all the riches of the world. As the saying goes,“Money can’t buy me love.”The things the human soul really longs for, fellowship with God and trusting relationships with one another, are the byproducts of a wise life. What one thing do you truly desire from this life? Is it something that can be obtained by silver or gold? Probably not! Determine to find wisdom and get understanding by listening to and obeying the word of the Lord. Then you will have your heart’s desires.
