Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
The son must place his confidence in the God who rules over all of creation, orchestrates every molecule in alignment with his good and sovereign plan, and is faithful to his promises. He must learn to depend on the Lord even more than he depends upon himself, including his own skills, talents, or abilities. The wise woman is called to acknowledge God’s ultimate authority to reign and rule over every aspect of her life, as nothing escapes the notice of the Lord. As we yield to the laws and principles of the Scripture, our journey becomes straighter, smoother, and more consistent with God’s intent for human life. A straight path isn’t necessarily one without bumps along the way, but a course that ends in righteousness and blessing. One is a fool to believe her cleverness surpasses the intellect of the Lord. Be wise: abandon your fears, doubts, and insecurities by fully trusting in his word today.
