Proverbs 1:32-33 (ESV)
32 For the simple are killed by their turning away,
and the complacency of fools destroys them;
33 but whoever listens to me will dwell secure
and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.”
Those who are simple and foolish are doomed. Lulled into complacency by a false sense of security, they suffer the consequences of their wrong beliefs. On the other hand, all who listen to wisdom will be eternally secure.The wise don’t turn away from the voice of God, but instead turn to Scripture, hearing and applying its instruction. All those who put their trust in God will never be disappointed. The simple and the foolish put their hope in what can be taken away. Those who trust in riches, beauty, pleasure, or power will one day find themselves destitute when the things they depend upon no longer provide for them. If you have lived foolishly, humble your heart before God and ask him for his wisdom. Then ask for courage to do as you should. Today could be the beginning of a brand new life for you.
