Proverbs 1:27-28 (ESV)

27 when terror strikes you like a storm

and your calamity comes like a whirlwind,

when distress and anguish come upon you.

28 Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer;

they will seek me diligently but will not find me.

Wisdom again declares what will occur if she continues to be rejected. She doesn’t reveal exactly what the source of the terror, calamity, distress, and anguish will be, but the guarantees that the deeds of those who refuse her will catch up with them. In fact, the Day is coming when all that is wrong will be made right and those who defy God will be overturned, exposed, and humiliated. In the end, just as wisdom called to her audience and was ignored, she will be called upon, but she will be the one who ignores. Although many tend to forget, the opportunity for repentance will one day pass. So wisdom does whatever she can to shake up the naïve. Let’s not miss the compassion wisdom extends to the simple. She begs for a listening ear. In what area are you resisting her promptings? Be wise and give in today! Wisdom wants nothing but the best for you.
