Proverbs 4:6-9 (ESV)
6 Do not forsake her, and she will keep you;
love her, and she will guard you.
7 The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom,
and whatever you get, get insight.
8 Prize her highly, and she will exalt you;
she will honor you if you embrace her.
9 She will place on your head a graceful garland;
she will bestow on you a beautiful crown.”
The son is called to be faithful to and love wisdom. He is to set his desire upon obeying the commands of God. If the son is committed to wisdom, she will protect and guard him. Becoming wise begins with the right response to this question: how much do you want wisdom? If you don’t really care, then wisdom is not for you. If you will do whatever it takes to obtain her, then she will be yours. If one holds wisdom close, she will be successful. And if one embraces wisdom, wisdom will bring her honor.Wisdom will place a beautiful victor’s crown upon the head of the one who is faithful. The one who follows wisdom will be adorned with a garland that the whole world will see. Those who live biblically are graced with a beauty that never fades away. There’s nothing more attractive than a life that has been lived according to God’s design.
