Proverbs 4:25-27 (ESV)
25 Let your eyes look directly forward,
and your gaze be straight before you.
26 Ponder the path of your feet;
then all your ways will be sure.
27 Do not swerve to the right or to the left;
turn your foot away from evil.
The one who desires wisdom must be careful about what she looks at. She should fix her eyes upon Jesus and what is consistent with his character without looking to the right or the left, including what the world has to “offer.” To keep her feet walking on the right path, her eyes must continually watch for where to take the next step. Veering just a short distance off course can result in danger or disaster. The path of the righteous is decidedly different from the path of the wicked. We can’t have one foot on each route. The wise woman continually looks ahead, keeping her mind on the things above. We are bombarded with distractions that attempt to keep us from our mission and goal in life. Let’s put away anything that hinders us from being as spiritually productive as possible during our brief stay on earth.
